An alpha is a decorative alphabet—each letter designed as an individual image, often in formats like GIF or PNG. Unlike standard fonts, alphas are handcrafted and full of personality. They’re used to spell out names, titles, or messages in graphics, emails, web pages, and digital scrapbooks. Think of them as the jewelry of your layout: expressive, colorful, and uniquely styled.
I first discovered alphas back in the days of Incredimail—a quirky little email program that let you dress up your messages with animations and stationery. It was clunky, sure, but it sparked something. I wanted to make my own images, and that curiosity led me to a Yahoo group full of alpha makers. From there, I started designing my own sets and collecting others’—until my hard drive was bursting with glitter, chrome, florals, and gems.
These alphas were born in the middle of real life. Not always pretty, not always peaceful—but deeply personal...
This page is a tribute to that journey. Some of these alphas were made during tough times, when creativity was my lifeline. Others were crafted just for fun, to share with friends or brighten a banner. Whether you’re here to explore, personalize, or just admire, I hope you find something that speaks to you.
The name “PrettyViolet” started as a username—just something to click past the ‘already taken’ message. But it became my label, my signature. Now, it’s the name stamped across every alpha, banner, and design I've shaped over the years.
Over the years, I’ve handcrafted more than 100 alphas—each one a blend of patience, pixel polish, and a sprinkle of me. While my full vault is tucked safely away, I’m currently offering 31 alphas for download here on the site.
Of those, the spotlight belongs to the Pretty Jems collection:
13 colorful, interchangeable alphas designed for you to make your own “tags”—names, greetings, titles, and more—right here within my pages.
Whether you choose the regal shimmer of Amethyst or the bold elegance of Black Onyx, each Jem offers a little magic, ready to be arranged, styled, and shared.
Choose from 13 interchangeable alphas to create tags, titles, and names within my site...
Select your favorite alpha from the dropdown, type your custom word, and preview how it sparkles!
Note: Lower case letters and some punctuation and symbol characters are included in the downloadable ZIP file for each Jem set.
Tag builders and graphic users with experience can manually integrate those as needed. Happy crafting!

These whimsical birdhouse alphas were lovingly inspired by my own kitchen décor—a blend of rustic charm, floral accents, and the cozy feel of country mornings. Each character nestles into its own painted birdhouse, surrounded by delicate blooms and gentle textures reminiscent of handcrafted shelves and garden-toned dishware. This set took several days to complete, with extra attention given to the doubled lowercase letters, allowing users to choose between soft pink or lavender blossoms. It’s a celebration of comfort, creativity, and a touch of homegrown elegance.

The Chrome Series was born from my longtime love of all things shiny—especially purple shiny—but silver runs a close second. Once I discovered the perfect filter in Paint Shop Pro v7.4, the Silver set came first, setting the tone with its slick polish and clean shimmer. Then came the Purple, simply because it brought me joy. One by one, the rest followed—Blue, Teal, Red, Yellow, Green—all capturing that gleam I adore. The timing? Most likely around Halloween, judging by the font I chose. There’s a playful edge to these letters that hints at costume parties, candy wrappers, and just a touch of mischief. All these sets are interchangeable.

My love of flowers has always bloomed into my creative work, and this series is no exception. Each alphabet in the PrettyFlorals collection was inspired by specific blossoms I’ve cherished—sunflowers swaying in my greenhouse, violets tucked beside garden stones, or pansies with their playful little faces smiling from my windowsills. These sets aren’t as interchangeable as the Chrome or Birdhouse alphas; each one carries its own personality, palette, and petal-style. You’ll find uppercase and lowercase characters, whimsical numbers, and select punctuation marks—all rendered in gentle GIF that brings each bloom to life.
