My Essays
✨ The Journey So Far
For 14 years, I managed multiple Dollar General stores, navigating the chaos of inventory prep, mentoring amazing teams, and leading with grit and humor. Those years taught me more than just retail—they taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to keep calm when the world tilts sideways.
After facing deeply personal losses, I chose to honor a promise made to my mother: “Go back to school, Sis. I always thought you should have a degree.” And I did. I’m now earning a degree in Information Technology—and loving every step of the journey.
✨ 14 Years at Dollar General: Real-World Skills that Stick
I started as a Sales Associate and rose to Store Manager, guiding teams through transitions, growth, and even chaos.
This chapter taught me the kind of skills you don’t always learn in a classroom—but that translate beautifully into any professional space, including IT.
✨ Tech Skills
I blend hands-on experience with academic training to craft thoughtful web designs, responsive layouts, and creative digital experiences.
- Semantic HTML5, CSS3 (animations, transitions, responsiveness)
- Web design tools: Notepad++, GitHub, image optimization
- Graphic creation & editing (PNG transparency, WebP workflow)
- Web hosting, file management, and accessibility awareness
- Virtual presentations, scripting, and professional interviews
✨ My Creative Side
Creativity isn’t just a hobby—it’s how I process the world. Whether I’m designing a digital greenhouse, crocheting an afghan, or remodeling a room from the studs up, I bring the same care and curiosity to every project.
- Custom graphics and transparent PNG/WebP workflows
- Interactive design tools like my Alphas page
- Seasonal gardening and greenhouse planning
- Handmade crafts: afghans, quilts, woodwork, and full-room remodels
- Storytelling through visuals, layout, and lived experience
